Cortina d'Ampezzo

Over in the Veneto, Cortina d'Ampezzo is Italy's most elegant mountain town and the base for the eastern Dolomites. The walking is superb - the easy, rewarding Cinque Torri circuit with its First World War history, and the classic Tre Cime di Lavaredo loop - with Rifugio Averau and Rifugio Locatelli for lunch.
