San Cassiano, Alta Badia

Just over from Corvara, San Cassiano is quieter but no less serious about food. Hotel Ciasa Salares - three generations of the Wieser family - holds two Michelin stars at La Siriola, plus an entire cheese room and a chocolate room. From Armentarola, walk into the Fanes Plateau via Lago di Limo and Rifugio Fanes, or ride the Lagazuoi cable car and take the horse-drawn shuttle back.
