Russ & Daughters

In New York City, up until the 1960s, there were appetizing stores scattered throughout every borough and nearly every neighborhood. The Lower East Side, in particular, had as many as thirty appetizing shops at one time.

Despite being one of the last remaining establishments of its kind, Russ & Daughters is dedicated to preserving and promoting this significant food culture. In 2014, Russ & Daughters Cafe was established, coinciding with the 100th anniversary Russ & Daughters, a renowned appetizing store and a beloved institution in New York City. For a century, loyal customers patiently stood in line at the store, and finally, it was decided that it was time to offer everyone a comfortable place to sit down and enjoy their food.
