Their motto from that start has been "tasty, cheap and fast", and their specialty is their beef bowl. You can now find Yoshinoya restaurants across Japan, the United States, Hong Kong, Cambodia, China, Indonesia, Mongolia, Philippines, Singapore, Taiwan, and Thailand.

"During my first days of visiting Glendale, California, I found myself strolling the streets one night at around 11 pm just getting a feel of what life is like in this country. I came across this shop called Yoshinoya which was just a stone's throw away from my motel. Even at 11pm, this place was pumping, there was a queue outside and I was feeling peckish so I thought why not give it a try? I remember getting some sort of stir-fried noodle dish for something like $5. I thought well if it's bad, at least it's only $5. The best way I can describe my experience here is that for the rest of my holiday, every night before I slept, I would walk here and order the exact same thing! Even today, I still have fond memories and I can't wait to return to get back into it. More importantly, though, it made me realise what a shame it is that the Australian food life is so different. At 11 pm, You can either go to McDonalds or if you're lucky Hungry Jacks. Either way, you know you are going to get below-average food at an inflated price. We can learn a lot from the fast food industry in the States."
