Cava is a sparkling wine that is produced in the Catalonia region of Spain, using the traditional method of secondary fermentation in the bottle.
It is made primarily from three grape varieties: Macabeo, Xarel-lo, and Parellada, although other grape varieties may also be used. Cava is known for its refreshing and lively taste, with fine bubbles and a range of fruit flavours, including citrus, apple, and pear, as well as floral and nutty notes from the aging process.
It has a crisp and dry finish, with a light to medium body and a high acidity. Cava is typically a dry wine, but can range in sweetness from brut nature (very dry) to dulce (very sweet). It is best served chilled in tall, narrow glasses to showcase its bubbles and aromas.
