Espumante is a sparkling wine that is produced in Portugal, using the traditional method of secondary fermentation in the bottle, similar to Champagne and other sparkling wines.
It is made primarily from Portuguese grape varieties, such as Arinto, Baga, and Touriga Nacional, although other grape varieties may also be used. Espumante is known for its crisp and refreshing taste, with fine bubbles and a range of fruit flavours, including citrus, green apple, and tropical fruit, as well as floral and nutty notes from the aging process.
It has a dry to off-dry finish, with a light to medium body and a high acidity.Espumante is typically a dry wine, but can range in sweetness from extra brut (very dry) to doux (very sweet). It is best served chilled in tall, narrow glasses to showcase its bubbles and aromas.
