Barbajada (Milanese Mocha)

Roberta Muir
Originating in 19th-century Milan, Barbajada is a decadent and comforting drink that combines strong coffee, cream, and melted dark chocolate in perfect harmony. Once a favourite of La Scala’s opera-goers, this traditional beverage was designed to warm cold winter nights but is just as irresistible chilled over ice in warmer months. Inspired by Alessandro Pavoni’s indulgent take, this version elevates the classic with real dark couverture chocolate melted into a creamy espresso blend.
